About the Training Program

Parent Coach Certification seal“My PCI training was both practical and inspiring and it is perhaps the single best educational experience that one could ever have.”
~ Kay Kimball Gruder, Paci Certified Parent Coach®, Successful College Parenting

The Parent Coach Certification® Training Program consists of four graduate-level distance-learning courses to be completed within 12–18 months, devoting about 5-7 hours each week.

The Four Core Courses consist of:

  • In-depth Course Notebooks, with research information, inventories, self-assessment tools, parent assessment tools, and lots of practical application strategies.
  • Manuals, Books, CDs/Audio.
  • Twice monthly classes via a Conference TelebridgeLine or Skype.
  • 100 hours of parent coaching practice, supervised by a PCI instructor.

During your training year, you have 24/7 access to your course materials on PCI’s Student Portal. The PCI Student Portal also provides audio files needed for your training, along with valuable learning experiences through audio recordings of actual coaching conversations, and PDF’s of required and supplemental reading.

Intentionally built into the program are “extras” for you to participate in if you choose to, such as being coached by a senior student so you know what it feels like to be on the parent side of the PCI Coaching Model™. During the year, your progress is regularly reviewed and discussed so that you can add skills, stretching yourself in new directions to optimize your innate talents. At PCI we strongly believe in purposeful, continual development of our human potential. Our training program reflects that!

Graduates are quick to agree that the year long journey toward becoming a PCI Certified Parent Coach® is a unique experience of professional growth and personal fulfillment.

I found the PCI course to be well researched and put together. I learned so much through the course, the reading materials and the interactions that I had with PCI instructors. It has been an incredibly enriching experience completing this course.
